Chew Medical Practice aims to provide professional healthcare that inspires confidence in our patients and our community. Partners and staff are approachable, respectful and patient-centred, aiming to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients in a safe and welcoming environment. Our vision applies equally to the prevention of ill health, the management of chronic conditions, and the provision of timely treatment for acute illness.
We aim to be at the forefront of modern general practice, offering a wide range of services and facilities conveniently located for most of our patients: as a rural practice, we recognise the importance of local provision, and it is our intention wherever possible to bring opportunities for treatment, awareness and support into our community. This includes:
- using the clinical skills of our own team to offer additional clinics
- expanding the services offered by our dispensary
- offering space for outreach services provided by the NHS
- bringing in visiting private consultants and therapists
- collaborating with voluntary sector organisations to provide support services
In order to offer the best possible chance for our patients to manage chronic conditions, we aim to improve the identification and monitoring of diseases, in line with national guidelines. In support of the NHS efficiency agenda, we will implement measures to ensure that patients only access secondary care services when clinically necessary. We aim to address the needs of terminally ill patients with particular care, helping them to maintain their dignity and to spend the final days of their life where they and their families wish.
We aim to support the development of better understanding and treatment of disease through proactive engagement with research projects.
We aim to use technology smartly to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our administration, patient contact and clinical activity.
Our doctors and nurses make every effort to keep their skills and knowledge up to date, through continuing professional development. As a training and teaching practice, we share our experience and also learn about current best practice by bringing newly qualified and partly qualified doctors and nurses into the organisation
